Other players can gift pets directly, but gifting is not a protected trading system. Never send valuables first based on a stranger's promise.
Method 1: Buy pets from map spawns
Grow a Garden 2 does not currently use the original game's fixed Pet Egg Shop. Instead, pets roam the shared area and rotate on timers. Each pet displays its price and remaining time above its head. Buy it before the countdown reaches zero and it will be added to your collection.
- Check the shared area as soon as you enter a server.
- Read each pet's price and timer before deciding whether to save for it.
- Prioritize rare spawns because missing one means waiting for it to appear again.
- Keep enough Sheckles for seeds—do not destroy your farming budget for a common pet.
Method 2: Earn weekly Guild rewards
After joining a Guild, members contribute points through harvesting. The score is based on each member's single heaviest harvest, with everyone's contribution added to the Guild total. Reaching higher weekly milestones unlocks better rewards for members.
Guild rewards can include Common Eggs and limited pets, sometimes with Big, Huge, or Rainbow variants. Ice Serpent was the featured Guild pet at launch. Rewards may rotate, so check the Guild panel for the current week rather than assuming the same pet is always available.
- Join a Guild whose members actively push the weekly milestones.
- Use sprinklers and mutations on high-value crops to improve your best harvest.
- Claim unlocked rewards before the weekly reset.
Method 3: Get and hatch Common Eggs
Eggs still exist, but there is no permanent egg stall at the time of writing. The confirmed route to Common Eggs is through Guild rewards. Once you receive one, place it in your garden and wait for the hatch timer to finish. The result is random, and the rarest pets have extremely low odds.

Hatch rates and egg pools may change between updates. Always check the current in-game egg pool before planning around a rare pet.
How to unlock more pet slots
You can equip three pets by default. Select the rabbit-head icon on the left side of the screen to view and equip your pets. Use the question-mark icon beside a pet's name to read its ability.
- Fourth pet slot: 200,000 Sheckles
- Fifth pet slot: 1,000,000 Sheckles
Do not rush these upgrades. Keep your crop budget healthy and buy another slot only when you already own an additional pet worth equipping.
Best pet progression for beginners
- Check every map rotation: Start with an affordable Frog, Bunny, Owl, or Deer.
- Join an active Guild: Your contribution helps, while the shared total opens better rewards.
- Hatch earned eggs normally: Do not plan around a 0.2% or 0.3% result.
- Keep building your farm: Treat Golden Dragonfly, Unicorn, and Raccoon as long-term purchases.
- Equip for the task: Use growth or mutation pets while farming and defensive pets when theft is a threat.
