Grow a Garden 2 Mailbox and Gifting Safety Guide

Mailbox and gifting systems are useful for helping friends, but they are not a safe replacement for a real trade screen. Send only what you are willing to lose.

Items, not trust

Rule

No gift-first deals

Mailbox Gifting Safety Basics

Use the mailbox to send legitimate gifts to players you trust. Current mechanics records say mailbox gifts can include seeds, gears, pets, and props, and that a full mailbox returns the sent item to the sender.

Do not treat gifting as a guaranteed trade. If the other side promises to pay later, send back later, or duplicate an item, you are taking a trust risk rather than using an enforced exchange.

Mailbox Steps

  1. Open the mailbox near your garden.
  2. Search or choose the recipient carefully; similar usernames can cause mistakes.
  3. Select the item you intend to send.
  4. Add a short note if the gift is part of a guild or friend plan.
  5. Confirm only after checking the recipient and item one more time.

If the recipient mailbox is full, current mechanics records say the item should be returned and the sender should be notified. Still, do not use that as a reason to test with rare items first.

Transfer Methods Compared

MethodKnown item typesSafety note
MailboxSeeds, gears, pets, and propsBest for deliberate gifts with a player name and optional note.
Direct giftingItems held near another playerUse only with trusted players because the system is not a full trade escrow.
DroppingSeeds, gears, pets, crops, seed packs, and cratesFast but risky because nearby players can pick items up.
Rare petsRestrictedCurrent mechanics records say rare+ pets cannot be mailed or gifted, though they may still be droppable.

Safe Uses

  • Sending starter seeds to a real friend who just joined.
  • Returning a guild reward or shared item after a planned session.
  • Moving low-value support items after checking the exact username.
  • Helping a trusted player recover after a mistake, without expecting repayment.
  • Coordinating gifts after confirming the live game allows that item type.

Risky Uses to Avoid

  • Gift-first trades with strangers.
  • Promises that another player will duplicate, upgrade, or return a rare item.
  • Dropping items in public spaces where anyone can pick them up.
  • Moving expensive pets without checking current restrictions.
  • Using alt-account shortcuts that could be patched, disputed, or treated as exploit behavior.

For normal progression, use safer routes like the Seed Shop restock guide, guild guide, and Auction Stand guide.

Before Sending a Valuable Item

  1. Confirm the recipient in a separate chat or voice call if possible.
  2. Check whether the item can be mailed, gifted, or only dropped.
  3. Send a low-value test item first if you have never used the flow with that player.
  4. Do not send anything you cannot afford to lose.
  5. Screenshot or write down the plan when coordinating with guild members.
