Mutations
One weather mutation per crop
The Short Answer
Every active server experiences the same weather at the same time, so weather planning is about having useful crops ready before the event starts. A crop can only receive one weather mutation at a time, which means a valuable plant should be watched, protected, and sold only after you confirm the tag you actually received.
Use weather to improve an existing farming loop. Do not stop planting while waiting for rare weather, and do not leave valuable fruit exposed during night just because a mutation could appear.
Normal Weather Events
| Event | Duration | Listed chance | Practical effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rain | 5 minutes | 33.3% | 2x growth speed for all plants and revives plants. |
| Lightning | 5 minutes | 25% | Can apply the Electric mutation when strikes hit the map. |
| Rainbow | 5 minutes | 16.7% | Boosts Rainbow mutation activity and grants a temporary Rainbow Carpet. |
| Snowfall | 2 minutes 30 seconds | 8.3% | Can apply the Frozen mutation to random crops. |
| Starfall | 2 minutes | 8.3% | Can apply the Starstruck mutation to random crops. |
| Aurora | 2 minutes | 8.3% | Can apply the Aurora mutation to random crops. |
| Sunburst | 5 minutes | 8.3% | Can apply the Ignited mutation to random crops; treat availability as current-event dependent. |
Rain is the safest event to use for routine growth. Lightning, Snowfall, Starfall, Aurora, and Sunburst matter most when you already have mature crops ready to roll a weather mutation.
Night and Moon Events
Day lasts 7 minutes and 30 seconds, sunset lasts 30 seconds, and night lasts 2 minutes. Night is also when stealing becomes active, so moon events combine opportunity with risk.
| Moon roll | Listed chance | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Night | 77% | Regular night state where players can steal plants. |
| Gold Moon | 13% | Spawns golden seeds and can give a Midas first-steal effect. |
| Rainbow Moon | 6% | Spawns rainbow seeds and can give a Star-Powered first-steal effect. |
| Blood Moon | 2% | Applies the Bloodlit mutation. |
| Mega Moon | 2% | Spawns mega seeds during a darker blue-purple moon event. |
How to Prepare Before Weather Starts
- Keep high-value multi-harvest crops planted before the event window.
- Harvest low-value filler before rare weather so mutation rolls land on crops worth selling.
- Use sprinklers and growth gear before the event, not after the short timer is nearly over.
- Leave enough inventory room for mutated crops and seeds from moon events.
- During night, decide whether the possible mutation is worth the theft risk.
For stable crop choices, compare entries in the crop database. For multiplier behavior, use the mutation database and the mutation guide.
When to Harvest Mutated Crops
Do not harvest automatically the moment weather ends. First inspect the crop tag, decide whether the mutation should be sold now, and check whether the fruit is safer in your inventory than on the plant. Expensive mutations are usually worth securing before another player can steal them.
If a mutation appears on a low-value crop, treat it as a useful bonus rather than a reason to gamble the whole inventory. The crop value formula guide explains why base value still matters after multipliers.
Common Weather Mistakes
- Waiting idle for rare weather instead of planting through normal cycles.
- Leaving the best crops exposed during night without defense.
- Assuming two weather mutations can stack on one crop.
- Planning around old event screenshots instead of the current live server state.
- Selling immediately without checking the mutation tag and current offer.
